The Movement and Physical Activity component of the Health
and Physical Education Curriculum consists of three content descriptors. These
are: Moving our body; Understanding movement and Learning through movement.
Physical Education is taught to all P-6 classes by a
specialist teacher for 40min per week. These lessons include activities that
cover content such as fitness, fundamental movement skills, active play, minor
games, early years perceptual motor program, athletics, T-Ball, cricket, basketball,
volleyball, Oz-Tag and netball.
Awareness program is attended by Year 5 and 6 students in Term 4 at Noosa Beach
– all Year 6 students also participate in interschool sport against
other schools in the Noosa District. Inter House Sports Carnivals also take
place throughout the year. These
include: 9 to 12 Year Old Inter House Swimming Carnival; Years 3 to 6 Inter House Cross
Country; Years 3 to 6 Inter House Track and Field Carnival and the Prep to Year
2 Sports Day.
Teams are also selected to attend various soccer, netball
and rugby league carnivals held here on the Sunshine Coast. Another highlight
of the year is the Pomona King of the Mountain event held in July in which
Eumundi enters several competing relay teams.
