Eumundi State School celebrates NAIDOC Week, with this year’s theme being Keep the fire burning.
We began our school NAIDOC day with special guest Lyndon Davis and his Gubbi Gubbi dance group, presenting a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony with a captivating didgeridoo and dance performances on the oval. He also explained the theme to the children about the importance of keeping the First Nation’s fire burning.
Our special visitors stayed for the whole day and ran various rotations for whole year levels. Hands on activities included: boomerang throwing, artefact viewing, ochre face painting and a special yarning circle for Indigenous kids.
A massive thank you to Lyndon Davis and his Gubbi Gubbi dance group for such an incredible and memorable day.
