Our Eumundi Equestrian Queensland Interschool team recently attended the State Interschool Equestrian Championships that were held over the first week of the school holidays in Toowoomba.
The riders were so excited, the horses were gleaming, the saddlery shining and the parents pumped for action. Our team consisted of five riders who have trained hard throughout the year and were ready for action.
First discipline of the championships was the COMBINED TRAINING with Bonnie C in Year 4. After her first event of Dressage, Bonnie was coming third. She then excelled in her show jumping round by winning it. Bonnie was then declared Reserve State Primary Champion in Combined Training.
Next, we had two riders compete in the DRESSAGE competition. Bonnie C Year 4 rode two wonderful tests and became the Reserve State Primary Prelim Dressage Champion. Even up against riders a lot older than her, Bonnie rode amazingly to achieve this.
In the Primary Novice Dressage tests, our Year 6 rider Ziva demonstrated her confidence and fantastic ability by becoming the State Primary Novice Dressage Champion. Ziva also won the award for highest score of the competition and was crowned the BEST PRIMARY SCHOOL DRESSAGE RIDER of the State Championships. We are all so proud.
Last discipline was the beautiful SHOW HORSES. The girls presented their ponies beautifully, their saddlery glistened and they proudly saddled up in their Eumundi school equestrian uniform and headed to the main ring.
Grace C from Year 5 rode beautifully in all of her three classes on her elegant pony in the Primary Show Horse achieving a sixth place overall in the State. Her sportsmanship and commitment on the day was outstanding.
Next, Bridie R in Year 4 with her beautiful pony also contested the Primary Show Horse Championships. Not only did Bridie get the highest score in the led class section at these championships, she also won the State Champion Primary School Horse title. Bridie then rode her second pony in the Primary Show Hunter competition where she was awarded third in the State. Such a wonderful achievement for our youngest rider
Big Congratulations Bridie.
Finally Rubi G from Year 6 entered the ring on her stunning Hunter Galloway in the Primary Hunter Show Horse Championships as well. Rubi rode beautifully to gain Fourth place overall in the State making the Qld team as well. Her horse didn’t give her the easiest ride but that didn’t deter her determination.
Our beautiful team of riders for the fourth year in a row, became the Qld Champion Interschool Equestrian Team for 2024.
Our riders, parents and supporters were so elated and so proud of this achievement considering we had the one of the youngest team of riders in the Championships.
Eumundi State School is very proud of these equestrian riders who exhibited excellent sportsmanship, outstanding riding and commitment and were extremely encouraging towards each other. We thank the school equestrian parents and grandparent, Kylie, Darren, Carol, Katrina, Billy, Nicola, Matt, Arianne, Sally and Rod for their tremendous efforts, time and support of the Eumundi State School Equestrian Team.
The “Eumundi Spirit” was constantly displayed throughout the championships with perseverance, effort, teamwork, commitment and lots of laughs.
Way to go Eumundi State School Equestrian Team!
