Eumundi State School is proud of the achievements and commitment to participation of students of all ages in music. Students are taught skills of singing and playing within musical contexts from a Music Specialist, while responding to the knowledge and understanding of musical elements imparted in the weekly music sessions.
On-going resource purchases for the Music Room have given the children throughout their school years a wonderful awareness of Drumming, Keyboards, Guitar, Ukulele and ensemble playing on percussion. These skills begin in the home with Nursery Rhymes, leading into Prep using voice and body with percussion instruments. Early Recorder Learning in begins in Year 2 and forms great building blocks for music reading. Children perform for their peers as they gain confidence and skills on the instruments and celebrate success.
An Instrumental Music Teacher visits the school each week to instruct students from Year 4 to Year 6 who wish to play brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, leading to part work and ensemble performance.
Children may participate as members of the Choir to perform at various school assemblies, community functions, competitions and ceremonies eg. ANZAC, CWA, Christmas Carols, Biannual school concert and workshops with local schools. Excursions into the community for the biannual Breakthru and Kidsong competitions show Eumundi State School in a great light.
Choir is held on Tuesday at 8am in the music room. Guitar club is an activity for Years 1-6 held on Wednesday at 8am in the music room.
