back to Eumundi for the 2020 school year. A particularly warm welcome to all
new families and staff members who have joined us this year - I am sure that
you will enjoy your time with us in the Noosa Hinterland. As a school community
we look forward to meeting you all throughout the year and working with you to
provide a quality educational experience for your child.
to updating everyone on a number of exciting new developments for this year I would
like to sincerely acknowledge the unprecedented bushfire crisis down south ,
the dedicated work of our volunteer firefighters and local animal welfare /
RSPCA staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of
others. Our thoughts are with those families who may have been affected
directly by the bushfire crisis or who have friends or relatives down south. We
wish those affected a speedy recovery from the disaster.
commence the school year we have a number of significant changes to communicate
to all parents to start the year.
work of the toilet blocks and undercover area to make way for our new building has
commenced and is due to be completed prior to next week. Parents and students
will notice a significant area of the school has been fenced off to ensure the
safety of staff, students and visitors to the school. Please do not enter this area for any reason. This is a totally
restricted / hard hat area only.
to the location of the new build, parents and students will notice that access
and pathways to a variety of buildings / areas within the school have changed.
In particular, access to the oval is restricted to an entry point via the new
demountable toilet block located on the southern side of the oval. Access to
the Administration block / Year 1 and 2 classes / Front area of the school is
easiest via the Caplick Way entry gates. Access to C Block classrooms and
associated Year 5 and 6 demountables is best via the Napier Road Carpark. Prep
classroom access is as previous years. To relieve some of these access issues a
new pathway is being built to link the front of the school with C Block which
should be completed for next week. For a copy of 2020 draft classroom
allocations please see the attached map.
LUNCHTIME PLAY / EATING AREAS AND TOILETS
our oval space will be reduced for a number of months this year whilst the new
building takes shape. To ensure that the oval is not overcrowded and provide
our students with a range of play and eating areas the following changes have
been put into place:
1. Year 1 and 2 students will play in the Front area of the
school only during Term 1. The Library will also be available to students in
these year levels during morning tea time to reduce congestion in this area.
2. Year 3 and 4 students will eat outside of their
classrooms in C Block. This area will also be available for handball, games and
other activities during playtime along with the oval.
3. Year 5 and 6 students will eat their lunch in their
normal area and also be able to access the oval, C Block space and areas around
4. In addition to these changes we are also opening up the
Basketball court / grass area as a supervised play space in 2020. Students from
a variety of year levels will be able to access this space during lunchtimes.
5. A temporary toilet block has been placed on the oval for
students from Years 3- 6 to use during construction and a number of portable
toilets are being placed next to the Library for students from Year 1 and 2 to
use during school time. Students will also be able to access the toilet in the
Library if needed.
Plans and preparations are
underway to install our new canteen facility whilst the build is taking place. Please
be advised that the Tuckshop will NOT be
open for the first two weeks of school at this stage. Parents will need to
provide their child/ren with a healthy lunch including fruit / vegetables during
this time. Apologies for any inconvenience here.
The Uniform shop has been
temporarily relocated to A Block (Upper Classroom) for the first few weeks of
Term 1. This is the older building opposite the Administration block.

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Please note that our classroom
for students with special needs has been relocated to the Arthouse (demountable
at the front of the school on Caplick Way). Meetings with parents and teachers
for special needs students will take place in this building until further notice.
With so much going on at the
school for the first few weeks we have decided to change our method of
communication to parents for Term 1. Details of this change are below.
Week 1 to 3 E-mail, website or Social Media
communication to parents
Week 4 Newsmundi
Week 5 to 7 E-mail,
website or Social Media communication to parents
Week 8 Newsmundi
Week 9 and 10 E-mail,
website or Social Media communication to parents
It is anticipated that this change
in communication will enable the school to promptly inform parents of changes
to routine due to the building progress or alert parents to issues relating to
access for drop off or pick up due to construction materials or machinery being
delivered for the build.
On behalf of all of us at the school
we are really looking forward to another great, but at times possibly
challenging, year due to the construction of our new building. I thank everyone
in advance for your patience and understanding as the build progresses and ask
that if you have any questions or concerns for the start of the year that you
call the office on 5472 6333 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org .
