Our Eumundi Equestrian Team has done it again!
Eumundi State School is the QLD STATE CHAMPION PRIMARY SCHOOL.
Our very talented team of seven riders made their way to Toowoomba over the July school holidays to compete in the IQ State Interschool Equestrian Championships. With their beautifully presented ponies, glistening saddlery, perfectly sewn in plaits and fantastic enthusiasm, our riders were ready.
First day of competition was the Show Horse discipline and we certainly shone like our polished riding boots. First up were our Mini Champions starting on an early and cool morning. Our three little riders were nervous but so excited. Bridie Yr 1, Grace C Yr 3 and Bonnie Yr 2 had the biggest smiles and support for each other. Each of the girls had to compete in a rider class and then ridden competition. After their work outs, they were even more pumped! We were all so proud of our youngest riders.
RESULTS were
Mini State Champion Hunter | Grace C | RESERVE STATE PRIMARY CHAMPION |
(tied for Champion but on a countback was awarded Reserve) |
Mini State Champion Open | Bridie | RESERVE STATE PRIMARY CHAMPION |
(tied for Champion but on a countback was awarded Reserve) |
Mini State Champion Open | Bonnie | THIRD OVERALL IN THE STATE |
Next were our older riders in the Primary School Show Horse competition. In this competition the riders had three phases to compete in, rider class, led horse and ridden horse and our talented Eumundi team won all three. Our riders in this section were Isla Yr 6, Rubi Yr 4 and Bronte Yr 5. These three girls had to compete against each other but still cheered each other on and showed truly beautiful sportsmanship. The other schools were on ALERT…Eumundi was ready to shine!
RESULTS were
Primary School State Champion Open | Isla | PRIMARY STATE CHAMPION |
Primary School State Champion Open | Bronte | RESERVE STATE CHAMPION |
Primary School State Champion Open | Rubi | THIRD OVERALL IN THE STATE |
Our team had amazing competition workouts and scores throughout this section which resulted in Eumundi State School being awarded The PRIMARY STATE CHAMPION SHOW HORSE TEAM.
Over the next few days, Grace C from Yr 5 represented Eumundi in the DRESSAGE competition. These classes were massive in numbers and extremely competitive. Grace competed on her two horses with outstanding results. Grace was focused and certainly had her game face on.
RESULTS were
Primary Prelim Championships | Grace C | FOURTH OVERALL IN THE STATE |
Primary Novice Championships | Grace C | FOURTH OVERALL IN THE STATE |
| Grace C | FIFTH OVERALL IN THE STATE |
A lot of time, effort, coaching and finances goes into this sport, and with our wonderful and supportive parents behind our team, they are helping make the dreams of our riders come true. A massive thanks to Kylie and Darren, Katrina and Billy, Rod and Sally and Nicola and Matt for all that you do for our Eumundi riders and our school. Seeing the girls dance in their breaks, support each other on the arena and go off together as a team to have fun showed that the Eumundi Spirit was here at Toowoomba. Many other coaches and Officials commented on their behaviour, competition ability levels and sportsmanship. One proud teacher here!
WE NOW HAVE FOUR RIDERS MAKING THE QLD STATE INTERSCHOOL TEAM HEADING TO THE EA INTERSCHOOL NATIONALS IN SEPTEMBER IN SYDNEY.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Grace C, Isla, Rubi and Bronte on their State Team selection.
WAY TO GO EUMUNDI!
