Our Eumundi Equestrian Queensland Interschool team recently attended the State Interschool championships that were held over the first week of the school holidays in Maryborough.
The riders were so excited, the horses were gleaming, the saddlery shining and the parents pumped for action. Our team consisted of four riders who have trained hard throughout the year and were ready for action.
First discipline of the championships were our beautiful show horses.
The girls presented their ponies beautifully, their saddlery glistened and they proudly saddled up in their Eumundi school equestrian uniform and headed to the main ring.
Grace C from Year 2 was the first competitor of the whole competition and contested both mini champion classes of Open Pony and Hunter pony. Grace was a little nervous but was so excited about competing at a state level. She won all of her four classes and was announced as the State champion in both sections with her gorgeous small ponies.
Next Bronte R in Year 4 with her beautiful grey pony contested the Primary Hunter Show Horse Championships. Not only did Bronte get the highest score in the rider class section at these championships, she also won the State Champion Primary School Hunter Horse title.
Finally Rubi G from Year 3 entered the ring on her stunning little chestnut pony in the Primary Hunter Show Horse Championships. Rubi rode beautifully to gain second place in the state for her riding and achieved 4th place overall making the Qld team as well.
Eumundi State School won three of the four sections in the Primary school division which enabled us to become the Champion State Show Horse Primary School team. Our riders, parents and supporters were so elated and so proud of this achievement considering we had the youngest team of riders in the championships.
In the following days, Grace C from Year 4 contested some very large classes in the Dressage arenas with her bay beautiful pony and magnificent dressage horse. In her Preliminary class Grace achieved 6th overall and in the Novice tests, Grace was awarded 4th overall qualifying her also for the Qld State Interschool team.
Eumundi State School is very proud of these equestrian riders who exhibited excellent sportsmanship, outstanding riding and commitment and were extremely encouraging towards each other. We thank the school equestrian parents, Kylie, Darren, Carol, Katrina, Billy, Nicola, Matt, Sally and Rod for their tremendous efforts, time and support of the Eumundi State School Equestrian Team.
The “Eumundi Spirit" was constantly displayed throughout the championships with perseverance, effort, teamwork, commitment and lots of laughs.
Way to go Eumundi State School Equestrian Team!
