This week we officially opened our new building – G Block or in local indigenous language Djagun which means meeting or gathering place. Erected in the centre of the school G Block really will be the gathering place for a wide variety of school activities and functions for many years to come. We are excited to unveil our new indigenous painting located at the back of the COLA – Djagun – painted by Peter Mulchay - which tells the story of the school as a meeting place - please take a moment when you are next at the school to take a look and enjoy the artwork and its story.
Thank you to the many people and organisations for their contribution to the success of our new facility.
Our school motto 'While we Live we grow' reflects the growing nature of our community and school. Eumundi is well and truly alive as a travel destination, small town market community and location where young families and children can grow up with space, sense of freedom and fresh air. We are confident that our new building will enable the school to grow in a sustainable way, providing more green space for playtimes, car park access for staff and visitors and greater opportunities for parents, students and staff to come and meet to build relationships and celebrate learning.
The opening of the new building - G Block - Djagun is very much a proud moment for me as the principal of our school. I look forward to this facility being used by our P&C, local organisations and town groups to continue to build our connection with local stakeholders. Our town and our school is certainly vibrant in nature and this building adds to our reputation of being a progressive, contemporary school where students can come to school and learn every day in an inviting and engaging environment.
