Fantastic work continues to be done by Jon Gemmell and Amber Vanner in the Enviro Centre. The Enviro Centre really sets our school apart from many others with its hands on access to a range of quality learning opportunities for the kids. In a world full of technology and gadgets it is a great place for kids to come and just be and connect with nature!
Great things continue to happen in the centre due to the hard work of these guys. If you haven’t had the opportunity to pop in to see Jon’s latest addition – The Beehive Sculpture – (a collaboration of work from Shane Christensen and Lyndon Davis) – make some time to do so!
Recently the Eumundi Markets in conjunction with Jon, filmed a short video showcasing the school's Worm Farms and their connection to the Eumundi Markets. Each day the students dispose of their fruit scraps into specialised containers outside the classrooms and in the eating areas. Student Council members then take this compostable material to the worm farms situated in our school gardens. Scraps are also collected from the market stalls each week. On Wednesday Market days with the assistance of Chappy Sam, Grade 6 student leaders sell the worm whizz at a dedicated market stall. See the video on the website homepage, school Facebook page or at this link https://youtu.be/t0Z1useRfqY.
