On Sunday 28 July Eumundi State School was represented by four relay teams (two boys teams and two girls teams) that competed in the annual King of the Mountain Primary School Relay event held in Pomona. Teams were made up of four runners who each run a lap of approximately 700m around Stan Topper Park (located at the base of the mountain).

Congratulations to all of the dedicated Eumundi students who took part. There were a total of 24 girls teams and 28 boys teams competing from all over the Sunshine Coast. Many thanks to each participant for all of the training/preparation leading up to this annual event, as well as parents for helping them attend on the day.

A stand out result was in the girls division, where one of the Eumundi teams finished in first place winning convincingly by 25 seconds. This team was made up of Lexi S, Lucy O, Sophie J and Lily S. Our other team of girls also finished very strongly, crossing the finish line in 7th place. Well done to Georgia B, Kiani B, Leila R and Eavan F. Our boys’ teams were also impressive finishing 7th (Jimi L, Zach H, Harper W and Ben B) and 8th (Lui B, Rhys L, Willoughby S and Jack S) respectively. The level of determination and sportsmanship on display by all runners in each of the races was most outstanding and they should all be very proud of themselves!

Lastly, a huge thank you again to the Original Eumundi Markets for sponsoring our four teams and supplying them each with a running shirt to make them look the part during the race. Thanks also to Kita L and Sue J for taking some great photos before, during and after the event. Thank you also to Rob L for helping secure team numbers to shirts as well as Libby W who collected entry fees, assisted in handing out team shirts, and making the last minute dash to purchase some additional safety pins to help get team numbers on shirts. Again, many thanks to all the parents and family members and friends who were so supportive of our runners.
